Over the course of every year, the county’s four health and social care commissioning organisations (the three CCGs and the County Council) together spend around £935million on local services. We have an unprecedented opportunity to work together to make sure we spend 100% of that money, funded by tax payers, better and more effectively so that every penny really counts.
East Sussex Better Together is the three-year programme of working together to reshape the way health and social are services are commissioned in East Sussex, so we can achieve high quality and affordable care now and for future generations.
Co-production between VCS and ESCC for East Sussex Better Together and the new Care Act
SpeakUp Forum’s research and feedback on the East Sussex Adult Social Care Partnership Boards influenced and initiated an internal review of strategic work with the voluntary sector.
Keith Hinkley, Director of Adult Social Care at East Sussex County Council and his colleagues will work with SpeakUp Forum to co-produce good solutions around East Sussex Better Together, new Care Act duties, and the structures that will best support integration of services and a strategic partnership role for the voluntary and community sector. The aim of the review is to clarify the roles of the Partnership Boards and update how we work in line with the changes made through East Sussex Better Together.
A joint workplan for the VCS and ESBT was agreed and can be found here.
A Task & Finish Group was formed to take forward discussions and decision-making around co-production and partnership work between the sectors. SpeakUp Forum and VCS representatives are involved in this group.
ESBT workstreams - VCS representation via SpeakUp Forum
SpeakUp Forum representatives are attending the below workstreams to ensure the VCS will be considered and heard when planning the programme's development through the workstreams.
Community Resilience - to establish a vision for how community resilience will be strengthened in East Sussex, and to oversee the development and delivery of a system to achieve that vision.
Primary Prevention - seeks to support a reduction in demand for health and social care services through reducing the incidence of disease.
Self Management - to look at whole system design and change to ensure that people with physical long term conditions have access to a range of self-mangement support and services.
Self Care - to develop channel and cultural shift in the way that people access information, advice and support within the community with a focus on self-service and self-resolution where possible.
Please contact SpeakUp Forum with any questions you might have in regards to the workstreams and representation on them.
