LEPs are locally-owned partnerships between the public sector (local authorities) and the private sector (businesses). There are 39 LEPs in England and they determine local economic priorities and undertake activities to promote economic growth and create local job.s One of their main responsibilities is to design the EU investment strategies for the delivery of EU funding in England for 2014-2020, specifically the European Social Fund (ESF) There are 2 LEPs in East Sussex The Coast to Capital LEP (C2C), covering West Sussex, Brighton & Hove, Lewes District, part of Surrey and Croydon.
The South East LEP (SELEP) covering East Sussex, Kent and Essex.
European Social Fund (ESF) ESF will be earmarked to a range of partners working in key target areas of
skills and learning;
research and development; and
Not-for-profit organisations have been particularly highlighted as good recipients for the money and will be encouraged to bid for the pots when they become available. Building Better Opportunities (BBO) is a programme co-funded by the Big Lottery and specifically encouraging providers from the Voluntary and Community Sector. NEW UPDATE - BBO Programme Guide now available! This guide sets out what the Big Lottery are looking for in the projects we'll fund and what the application process involves. Visit their website for this and other documents. It is though likely that delivery will be available through large contracts (£1mln+) and through a collaborative or consortia process. Please be mindful that due to this and the nature of the funding priorities, this programme will not be suitable for all organisations.
3VA and SpeakUp Forum alongside a network of 17 Council for Voluntary Services (CVS) organisations in the South East will have access to information and support on preparing for the BBO funding.
